Hi there,
My name is John Robinson and I started with Hospital Radio in 1999 and have been the chairman for the last 5 years. I present a show on a Monday night 6pm until 8pm, a programme with lots of fun and games, interaction with the patients and a mixture of music from swing to the modern. Monday nights are always quite busy with lots of budding presenters present who are waiting to be trained up.
I have been married to Penny for 28 years, a lifetime you might say. We don't have any children just a Boxer dog called Cassie. Back in 1998, we had the misfortune to take a holiday in New York. We have been back nearly every year since. It's has become a necessity for Christmas shopping and has, up to now, cost me a fortune.
My passion is 'rallying', in my opinion, the better aspect of motor sport.
I have been involved rallying since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Both, taking part in and on the organising side things. I must say quite successfully. Around 6 years ago Penny bought me a 1972 MG Midget as a project car. It arrived in several cardboard boxes and after substantial welding putting it back together, it was like a great big jigsaw puzzle. A friend of mine did most of the work, as I am no mechanic. Still, after about 18 months and a countless skinned knuckles, we had a usable car on the road. It has, up to now, done six classic car rally's the last of which was at Kinross in Scotland.
I have used the car to raise much needed money for the radio by doing a run to Inverness and back. This year we plan to go all the way to the top of Scotland.
